Today, network marketing has become a huge money making business for people who wish to earn through home-based business opportunities. Most network marketing opportunities come with an autoship program where there is no need to renew the subscription of the product or service after the first month or any month there after…

However, many times (like 90%) it can be the actual autoship that leads to the failure of the business. The drawbacks of having a consumable good or over priced product that you can't move or sell can affect the business growth in a huge way. Last time I checked Silver and Gold coins don't get spoiled or expire, hence their autoship is worth joining not to mention the more you have…the wealthier you are!

• Like we touched on before, in order to qualify for commissions you have to be on autoship. If you are not able to sell those products or recruit new people into your business, the autoship turns into a liability and can often turn your "money making" opportunity into a falling trap of debts. Internet marketing is different than other types of marketing in that you can reach a much wider audience for much less investment than other types of marketing. A commercial can only reach the eyes and ears of those that are tuned into the channel or station on which it is running. A print ad will only be viewed by potential customers who are reading the publication that it is printed in.  Internet advertising on the other hand can be seen by anyone, anywhere in the world, at any time of day. All that is needed is for someone to search for a term or keyword that matched your business, product or service and your name can be in front of their eyes. The internet is literally like an ocean as far as potential customers or business partners.

There are many different forms of internet marketing that you can use to promote your business. The first and most basic is to put together an effective website. Your website should convey what you are about and/or your company is about and encourage people to explore and see what you have to offer. There is also much more that goes into a website like content, opt in forms, videos, graphics, headlines, etc.  All these things are key to a high converting website which is the goal of most people. If you have ever worked for someone else, then chances are that you can understand the appeal of a home based business. Think about it. Again, there is a lot of garbage out there, a lot of companies are here today and gone in less then a year.  You have to find a company with a foundation, a good reputation, good products, and good system and a killer compensation plan. Basically don't play around with any little money games. Find a "Real" company and a "Real" business.  Some that I would recommend that I know for a fact are legitimate companies, have great reputations and actually have a ton of people making money in them are iLearning Global, LifePath Unlimited, MonaVie, Carbon Copy Pro, the Trump Network, Global Resorts, Yoli, ShopToEarn to name a few.

past 24 months…in this "bad" economy…these companies have been sky rocketing and having record breaking sales each new month.

Everyone on this planet can use some personal development…no matter what business or industry you are in…

Lately we often hear the term "Social Media Expert"… what is that exactly and what constitutes calling somebody a "Social Media Expert" ?  Do we also use that term too loosely now a days?

The reason I write about this today is about 2 weeks ago an article hit the Internet and went viral titled "100 Social Media Experts To Follow On Twitter".  Now the day this hit the Internet I was at home and I received several emails from people I know in the Internet Marketing/Home Business industry informing me I was on this list.  I had no earthly idea what they were talking about so of course I simply Googled "100 social media experts" and found the article.  Much to my surprise I was indeed on this list ranked at #53.  Now as cool as that is, I have never proclaimed myself to be a "social media expert".  Other notables on this list were MC Hammer (no explanation needed),  Molly Wood (host at CNET.TV), Gina Trapani (founding editor of LifeHacker.com), Scott Monty (head of social media Ford Motor Co.), Alison Sweeney (host of the hit tv show "The Biggest Loser"), Tim Ferris (Best Selling Author – "The 4 hr Work Wk"), Guy Kawasaki (founder of AllTop.com),  Kevin Rose (founder of Digg.com), #2 Chris Brogan (NY Times Best Selling Author – "Trust Agents"), and #1 Gary Vaynerchuk (Host of Wine Library TV and a huge video blogger).

There are obviously several other great people on this list who are very wealthy,  very famous and very successful.  In most of the short bio's of each person the list stated approximately how many followers and tweets each person has on Twitter.  This list has also stirred up some controversy as many people state having a lot of followers on Twitter does not make you a Social Media Expert…and I 100% agree.  Now to get to my first couple questions here in this post…

To me (and this is my opinion), when I think of a "Social Media Expert" I think of not just Twitter or not just Facebook, but a good grasp and presence on many social networking sites.  I am talking about the main ones we all know of…Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace (I think MySpace is loosing more and more activity), your personal Blog site, etc.   So my point is…if someone is just on YouTube and has no presence on Facebook and Twitter or LinkedIn, etc…. I would call them a YouTube expert.  I wouldn't really call them a "Social Media Expert" because to me they have only one piece of the puzzle.  One of the best examples of who I looked up to as a Social Media Expert was Perry Belcher who has now vanished off the scene due to personal reasons but Perry was the man in my eyes.   He had it all flowing as he could lead people from place to place at ease.  What I mean by that is Perry would take his followers/subscribers/fans, etc. from Twitter —> His Blog —-> YouTube —-> Facebook  —-> His Offer, etc.   Maybe not in that order but he pretty much could do anything he wanted with the following he had.  That in my eyes is someone who truly knows Social Media and I would call Perry Belcher a Social Media Expert.

I also think in todays Internet Marketing world…the term Social Media Expert is probably used too loosely.  Again, I have never proclaimed myself to be one…however being placed on this list was an honor and to be mentioned with the other 99 people on this list is great.  I will take it…LOL!!   

The thing that is great about "Social Media" in general is that it's everyone's favorite 4 letter word… F*R*E*E*.   So in my field which is the Home Business/Internet Marketing Industry it is such a great way to get yourself out there, build a following, interact with people who can potentially become future buyers or future business partners, etc.    Some of my largest months in this Industry have come from social media marketing such as YouTube videos.  I have had several 5 figure months from people who were searching my current primary business of LifePath Unlimited and found some of my videos on YouTube.  People have joined me without ever seeing my websites…just from connecting with me from videos.  So Social Media Marketing is very powerful because it lets people truly get to know who you are and let them see if they resonate with you.

So to sum it up…

Do we use the term too loosely?  Probably

What constitutes a Social Media Expert?  Again, my own opinion is someone who has a presence on more than one social media network and actually utilizes several (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, MySpace, etc.) and not only is using them but using them to build or grow their business or personal brand!  That is key.

What it comes down to are 2 things…

Every marketer knows they want something to give to their down line or sales team to get them up and running. The problem is that the duplicatable ‘system’ your company is teaching you is DECADES OLD. The days of hounding your friends and family and talking to strangers at the mall are GONE.

As marketers we all know this, so we start searching for a system that works. The Internet offers so many so called "plug-in and go" programs with capture pages and a few marketing tips that anyone can use. While any person can duplicate these programs, they rarely offer ongoing training and tips.  I often wonder why still the failure rate is so damn high? 

Network Marketing is a Relationship business. The goal is to build sustaining residual income or in the case of a Direct Sales model, build both high upfront profits as well as residual income. The only way to do this is by having a strong team. The "duplication" that is so highly regarded comes from a number of things…teaching, mentoring, and fostering your team. If you have a strong relationship with your team they will respect you and the process you use to build your business. When you spend time personally teaching them, they will stay plugged in and "duplicate" your process and will help build the strong team you are seeking.  The #1 thing you have to do as the Leader is BRING VALUE!…PERIOD! 

If you are new and you feel you don't have a ton of value to give yet, that is fine, then at least try to find where you can get value and then share that with your own personal team…they will respect you that much more.  I have often heard a statistic that you have about 90 days to put money in a new team members pocket to get them to stick around and keep working the business.  I am on the fence as to how I feel about that…as yes you want to get your new team members in profit mode as quick as possible…I also ask myself this question - If someone is truly dead serious about a real business for themselves, are they ONLY going to give it 3 months and quit? 

The sad thing is that happens very often in this Industry, I don't know many people who would buy a franchise or buy a restaurant or a buy any other brick and mortar business and ONLY give it 3 months…Hell, most franchises you are not even breaking even for the first 2 years after your initial investment.  It also cracks me up that people will go to work 50 hours a week making somebody else rich but will only give a home business 3 months and quit! (when it's their Own business) 

Sorry….got off track there a little…LOL

Point is, if you are looking to succeed in the Internet Marketing / Network Marketing / Home Business Industry, you will want to find a business that does have some sort of a system in place that not only you can plug into and have success but the people you are bringing into the business can plug into as well.  To keep people around and on your team…provide value, help them, coach them and mentor them the best you possibly can and get some money in their pocket as fast as possible.

When it comes to duplication find a business or company that has some sort of business model that  people can follow…something that is not Rocket Science either…as in this day and age…people are looking for something that is simple and that's a Fact!

The definition of Duplication to me means that others can come into my business and do exactly as I do… follow our business model, plug into the training from me and the company and have the potential of not only having the same success as I have had but also the chance to out perform me!  That is great…seeing people actually come into the business and excel in such a way they actually produce results some months better than you!
