In A Home Business…Is It “Selling” or “Sharing”?

by Dean on August 6, 2009

You visited a few times and I would appreciate your thoughts on this post, why not comment?

Many Home Business "gurus’ will tell you that, "It’s not about selling but rather more about sharing." I think they’re not getting the point across. They’re trying to say that sharing your knowledge will benefit you in the long run by attracting the kind of trust and loyalty that a successful network needs. I get that. I’ve even been known to say that myself. But to say that "it’s not about selling" is stretching that point way too far. You’re in a business and at the end of the day, sales DO matter. Let’s get this point clear – It’s about both.

Why? because you are sharing your business opportunity, and at the same time selling your ideas as a leader. If you fail to make that rather fine distinction, you’re setting yourself up for a situation where you have a network of eager marketers with no actual income coming in to keep everybody happy. What are the chances you’re going to be able to keep that network together for long?

To have a successful home business (whether it’s Direct Sales or MLM) , you need to share your marketing skills down the line so your network can replicate your success. Do that and you’re creating teams of highly effective marketers who can drive your residual income streams to amazing heights. You need to share what you know about the business and marketing to fine tune a well oiled machine that produces consistently spectacular results.

Now as for the people who don’t take any action…?  That’s for another topic!!

You know, I agree with you on sharing the success methods with you down line. I'm not in an MLM business but I see this as something vital almost to the success of business ventures, even those not MLM.
